    2. How to Get to the Symposium Site

   From the International Iasi Airport: From the Iasi airport one can take a taxi; currently they charge 1,4 lei/km. The cost to the University should be about 15 -20 lei ( 1 US$ = 2,3 lei 1 Euro = 3,2 lei).

   From Iasi Main Train Station: From the railway station one can take a taxi; currently they charge 1,4 lei/km. The cost to the University should be about 6 - 7 lei.

   Getting from Bucharest to Iasi:
   a) By plain
From the "Henri Coanda" (Otopeni) Airport in Bucharest there are flights to Iasi. The journey from Bucharest to Iasi is of about 1 hour.
   b) By train:
By train, the journey from Bucharest to Iasi is of about 6 hours. The price of a first class, one way, train ticket is about 100 lei.

The distance between Bucharest and Iasi is about 400 km.


   B. GENERAL INFORMATION

   

    Official Language:
The official language at the Conference will be English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

    Conference Identification Badge:
A conference identification badge will be included in the conference material provided upon registration.

    Attendance Certificate:
A certificate of attendance will be issued to the registered participants upon request.

    Letter of Invitation/Visa Requirements:
The Organizing Committee will send a letter of invitation upon request. The invitation is intended solely to facilitate participants’ travel and visa arrangements, and does not imply the provision of any financial or other support.

    Language:
Romanian (a Latin family language) is spoken throughout Romania; you will easily find English speakers. Most of the hotel and restaurant staff speaks English.

    Internet Access:
During the conference, computers with Internet access will be available at the Faculty of Textile and Leather Engineering. You may also use commercial Internet Café’s at a rate of about 2 lei/hour.

    Currency:
Romania uses its national official currency (lei). Foreign currencies can be exchanged in banks and exchange bureaus. Currency rate is approximately 1 EUR = 3,4 lei

    Electricity:
Electricity in Romania is 220 V, 50 Hz. Continental Europe 2 pin plugs are used.

    Time:
Local time is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

    Weather:
The weather in Iasi in October is generally fair with temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.

    Public Transportation:
Iasi operates various bus routes. Payment can be made in cash to the driver.

    Taxis:
A taxi service is available day and night.

    Shopping:
There are many shops within walking distance away from the conference centre. Shopping hours during the week are between 10.00 and 21.00.
